Toxic on the campaign trail

To Democrats, Hillary Clinton is as politically toxic as ever. Despite no recommendation of charges, the FBI’s conclusions today shed even more light on Clinton’s poor judgment, lies and scandals. She “should have known,” was “extremely careless,” and contrary to her claims, sent/received then-classified emails on her server. Not to mention the national security risks under the possibility that “hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account.”

Now as “Extremely Careless” Hillary Clinton and President Obama hit the campaign trail for their first 2016 appearance, Democrats have little reason to cheer their disgraced nominee.  In case you missed it, The Wall Street Journal reported on the political risk Hillary Clinton is for down-ballot candidates. Two key points:

  • Hillary’s political toxicity runs down the ballot, endangering candidates who embrace her: “An offshoot of Mrs. Clinton’s low favorability rating is that candidates who tie themselves to her risk alienating voters they need to win, polling shows.”
  • Democrats want to be seen with Obama, but not just with Hillary: “When Mrs. Clinton made a campaign stop in Raleigh, N.C., on June 22, neither Democratic gubernatorial candidate Roy Cooper nor Senate hopeful Deborah Ross showed up for the rally. Both cited scheduling conflicts. Both Ms. Ross and Mr. Cooper are planning to attend the event in Charlotte with Mrs. Clinton and the president…”

The FBI’s scathing review proves voters are right to distrust and dislike Hillary Clinton. And try as they may, House Democrats will have no place to hide from a long-time Democratic party fixture like Hillary Clinton. They’ll be answering for her scandal-plagued record and reckless policies all the way to the ballot box.
