CLF Statement on MT-AL Special Election Results

WASHINGTON – Congressional Leadership Fund (@CLFSuperPAC) Executive Director Corry Bliss issued the following statement in response to Montana’s special election results.

CLF was the first and biggest spender in the race, investing over $2.7 million. A day after the Montana Democratic Party’s special nominating convention, CLF released its first statewide TV ad against Rob Quist. In addition to TV and targeted digital advertising, CLF had a robust mail and field operation of 50 door knockers targeting 75,000 doors by Election Day.

“Tonight, Montanans made their voices heard by rejecting extreme liberal Rob Quist and electing Greg Gianforte to represent their conservative views in Congress.  CLF is proud of its efforts and the robust ground support that helped ensure a Republican victory in the race. From day one, we worked to expose the real Rob Quist to Montanans and today’s results prove those efforts successful. Whether it was on TV, online, or at their door, Montanans quickly learned and were constantly reminded about Quist’s extreme liberal views, dishonesty, and irresponsible behavior – making him untrustworthy and unelectable. Having Gianforte’s record of job creation in Congress will be an asset as President Trump and Republicans continue working on tax and regulatory reform. Montanans will soon know that electing Republicans means creating real jobs and getting people back to work.

“By implementing multi-pronged and issue-based campaigns in key congressional districts nationwide, CLF will continue to do its part to ensure the House Republican majority is strengthened and protected in 2018.”

Founded in 2011, Congressional Leadership Fund is the super PAC endorsed by House Republican leadership and dedicated exclusively to preserving and expanding the Republican Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. CLF is an independent-expenditure super PAC that operates independently of any federal candidate or officeholder.
