A Job at Risk

“While we’re proud of the Affordable Care Act, we now pivot to job creation.” – Nancy Pelosi, 04/01/14

Is that so? Nothing says “proud” like trying to change the subject, and nothing says “job creation” like Congressman Joe Garcia joining Nancy Pelosi in voting against a jobs bill backed by America’s job creators.

Just now, Joe Garcia voted against repealing Obamacare’s 30-hour work rule that’s already reducing workers’ hours and wages, and discouraging new job creation.

In fact, the people who are hurt most by Joe Garcia’s vote today are the people who can least afford it: hourly workers.

According to Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, 2.6 million Americans making less than $30,000 a year are at risk of fewer hours and less pay thanks to Obamacare’s 30-hour rule. Of these Americans:

–    90 percent do not have a college degree
–    63 percent are women
–    60 percent are between the ages of 19 and 34

But never mind that. Joe Garcia would rather defend Obamacare’s onerous mandates no matter the cost to hard-working Floridians and then use the latest Democratic talking points to talk about middle-class jobs.

Joe Garcia’s extreme liberal partisanship may make him a favorite of Nancy Pelosi but Floridians need an independent voice in Congress.

The Bottom Line:
Joe Garcia’s Obamacare is not only hurting Floridians’ health care, but also jobs, wages and opportunities. If Joe Garcia were actually serious that “our No. 1 priority must be job creation,” he would have voted to lift hourly workers and job creators from the unworkable constraints of Obamacare.
