CO Voters Have Had It With Denver Migrant Crisis
Denver is struggling to afford its ongoing migrant crisis, as they continue reallocating funds from city and statewide budgets (even defunding Denver’s police) to pay for it.
And Coloradans are not happy. Here’s what they’re saying:
- One Coloradan and legal Venezuelan immigrant said,“it cannot come at the expense of people who are here legally. It’s a tough thing to say… but it’s true.”
- Another Coloradan who legally immigrated from Colombia said she feels they “take advantage of being an immigrant, and that’s not OK.”
- And one lifelong Denverite voiced her frustration saying,“we’ve lived here our whole lives, and now we have to pay for hotels and debit cards and health care.”
Voters’ frustrations spell deep trouble for vulnerable Democrat Yadira Caraveo, who called on Biden to defund ICE and CBP, refused to hold his administration’s failures accountable, and rejected tougher border security measures in Congress.
“Plain and simple: Yadira Caraveo brought the migrant crisis to Denver on a silver platter,” said CLF Regional Press Secretary Maureen O’Toole. “Her voters are sick of it and will vote her out this fall because of it.”
