Polls Show House Dems on Wrong Side of Border Debate
As Biden’s border crisis rages on, a new Gallup poll found immigration is the number one issue for American voters.
And a new Monmouth University Poll found 8 in 10 Americans now see illegal immigration as either a very serious or somewhat serious problem, with a whopping 61% saying it’s very serious – up 15 points from 2019.
It also found that most Americans (61%) say immigrants seeking political asylum at the border should be made to stay in Mexico – up 10 points from five years ago.
House Republicans already passed this measure in H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, which would end catch and release and mandate the Remain in Mexico policy.
And it’s worth remembering that EVERY House Democrat voted against it.
These polls are just the latest that show Democrats are moving further and further out of step with Americans on the issues that matter most to them.
“Under the Biden administration’s open-border policies, voters have seen illegal immigration at our southern border go from a problem to a full-blown crisis, and Americans are demanding tougher border security as a result,” said CLF Communications Director Courtney Parella. “Unfortunately, House Democrats continue to be in denial about the severity of this crisis, opposing commonsense legislation that has strong support from the majority of Americans. At the end of the day, voters know who to blame for this illegal immigration crisis.”
