NEW: Spanberger out in VA-07

A new Politico report reveals Abigail Spanberger plans to run for governor in 2025 and abandon the highly competitive VA-07 seat in 2024.

Spanberger’s departure opens up another prime pickup opportunity for Republicans, like we’ve seen already in MI-07 with Elissa Slotkin and in CA-47 with Katie Porter.

This also means House Democrats are losing another one of their best fundraisers.

“Abigail Spanberger’s departure makes an already competitive House seat all the more winnable next November and presents Republicans with a big opportunity to hold and expand the House majority,” said CLF Communication Director Courtney Parella.
