Inflation is sending Americans into “survival-mode”
The 40-year high inflation is hitting low-income families the hardest, as necessities like food, energy, and housing see some of the largest prices increases.
A Washington Post report shares first-hand accounts of the devastating impact inflation is having on families:
- “I go to the supermarket to buy chicken, and I have to make a decision on what meal I’m going to cook based on the prices. … I’m not going to buy anything luxurious. Everything is more expensive.”
- “We haven’t been able to enjoy life, but are rather in survival mode.”
“Inflation has wiped out families’ paychecks and left them scraping by to make ends meet,” said CLF Press Secretary Cally Perkins. “Democrats’ reckless spending caused an inflation crisis, and now working families are paying the price.”
