CLF Statement on Karen Handel’s Victory in GA-06

Congressional Leadership Fund (@CLFSuperPAC) Executive Director Corry Bliss issued the following statement on Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District special election runoff results:

“Congratulations to Karen Handel on a hard-fought victory. Along with the Handel campaign and other allied groups, CLF is proud to have played a role in tonight’s outcome. With Karen’s proven record of balancing budgets and cutting government waste, Sixth District voters will have a strong representative in Congress who will fight for their interests and defend their values. Despite a massive fundraising advantage, Jon Ossoff was exposed as a liberal Democrat who would put the agenda of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi above Georgia voters.

“Over the past month, Democrats not only declared this as a must-win, they all but guaranteed victory. After spending more than $30 million, Ossoff becomes the biggest loser in the history of Congress. Like the other Democrats who lost special elections this cycle, Ossoff can be defined as someone who complains about the President, supports tax increases and loses.”

CLF was the first outside group to enter the race, investing more than $7 million working to inform voters about Ossoff’s blatant attempt to hide his support for the highly unpopular Pelosi and out-of-the-mainstream views on key issues.

CLF tied Ossoff to Pelosi early and often, echoing the message on every platform, including television, digital and radio advertising, as well as campaign literature and direct mail. CLF also deployed its data director and deputy national field director to Georgia to oversee a team of 135 door knockers engaging Republican voters. In total, CLF spent $2 million on efforts outside television advertising and knocked over 300,000 doors in helping achieve this historic win.
